FAQ

UniFi firewall questions

Is a UniFi firewall suitable for business use?

For small offices and branch sites it can be a sensible choice, especially when configured with proper segmentation and kept up to date. It is not a replacement for Palo Alto, FortiGate or Sophos in larger or regulated environments, and we will say so if your requirements point that way.

Do you configure the UniFi zone-based firewall?

Yes. We set up zones and policies on UniFi gateways, separate staff, guest, device and camera traffic with VLANs, and document the rules so they can be reviewed and maintained.

Can UniFi support our Essential Eight work?

The Essential Eight is mostly about endpoint, application and identity controls, so a firewall plays a supporting role. A well configured UniFi network helps through segmentation, updates and controlled remote access. We cover the rest of the Essential Eight through our managed IT security service.

What affects the cost of UniFi firewall configuration?

Cost depends on the number of sites, VLANs and VPNs, whether switching and wireless are included, and whether you want ongoing management. UniFi hardware is purchased separately. We quote after a short review of your sites.
