MYOB ERP integration

MYOB integration with your ERP, or a clean migration when it is time to move.

MYOB and your ERP

MYOB is common in long-established Australian businesses, especially in construction, manufacturing and trades. SyncBricks connects MYOB Business and AccountRight to ERPs such as ERPNext, Business Central and NetSuite, and plans migrations off MYOB when a business outgrows it, with balances checked at every step.

MYOB is one of the two main Australian accounting platforms, alongside Xero. MYOB Business and AccountRight cover invoicing, bills, banking, GST, BAS and payroll for small and mid-sized businesses. MYOB Acumatica (formerly MYOB Advanced) is MYOB's mid-market ERP. The AccountRight and Business APIs support integration, but they have their own rules around company files and authentication that need careful handling.

Why integrate MYOB with your ERP

Businesses on MYOB often have years of process built around it: spreadsheets for job costs, emailed PDFs for approvals, payroll exported and imported by hand. When an ERP is introduced for stock, jobs or orders, MYOB either becomes the ledger behind it or gets replaced. Either way, the work is in mapping the process, deciding what each system owns, and moving data accurately.

The design work sits inside our process mapping and ERP integration services: agree which system owns each record first, then build.

Integration patterns we build

ERP invoices and bills to MYOB

Sales and purchase invoices raised or approved in the ERP are posted to MYOB with the correct accounts, tax codes and job or category allocations.

Purchase order to bill matching

Supplier invoices are matched to purchase orders and receipts in the ERP before they become MYOB bills, so only approved and received goods are paid.

Payroll costs to jobs

Timesheets from the ERP or a time app feed the pay run, and the resulting wage costs are allocated back to jobs or departments for costing.

Migration from MYOB to an ERP

Chart of accounts mapping, opening balances, open invoices and bills, customers, suppliers, items and the history needed for comparison reports, followed by a parallel period to check balances.

How data moves

Events that start a sync

  • Sales invoice submitted in the ERP
  • Purchase invoice approved in the ERP
  • Payment recorded in MYOB
  • Pay run completed
  • New customer, supplier or item created
  • Scheduled reconciliation run

Records created or updated

  • Create or update customers and suppliers in MYOB
  • Create sales invoices and bills
  • Post general journals with job or category allocation
  • Write payment status back to the ERP
  • Export migration data with balance checks
  • Log exceptions for review

Who asks us for MYOB integration

  • Construction and trade businesses adding job costing beside MYOB.
  • Manufacturers moving from MYOB to an ERP with BOMs and stock control.
  • Businesses consolidating several MYOB company files into one ERP.
  • Finance teams wanting approved purchasing before bills reach MYOB.

Access, credentials and audit trail

MYOB access uses the supported API authentication with credentials held in a secrets store. Integration accounts have only the permissions they need. All changes are logged against the source ERP document, and migration extracts are handled under an agreed data handling process and removed once the project is signed off.

FAQ

MYOB integration questions

AccountRight or MYOB Business?

We work with both. The integration patterns are similar, but company file access and some API details differ, particularly for AccountRight files that are not online. We confirm which version and setup you have during discovery, because it affects how the connection is built and supported.

Should we keep MYOB or move everything into the ERP?

It depends on how much of your finance work happens in MYOB today and whether your bookkeeper or accountant relies on it. Keeping MYOB as the ledger can reduce change for the finance team. Moving everything into the ERP removes an integration to maintain. We compare both against your mapped process before recommending one.

How do you make sure a migration from MYOB is accurate?

We map the chart of accounts first, migrate in test runs, and reconcile trial balances, aged receivables, aged payables and stock values against MYOB after each run. Differences are explained and fixed before the final cutover. A parallel period then confirms the new system agrees with MYOB on real transactions.
